Tom can help you develop a plan to achieve your guitar goals so you can get fast results, avoid common traps and have much more fun!
Your time is valuable.
I was completely self taught when I started learning guitar. However, after a couple of years of going down the self learning route, I saved up some cash and paid for a few lessons with a local teacher.
It was some of the best money I'd ever spent.
In half an hour I was blown away by all the new information I was given. Lightbulbs were flashing like it was the red carpet at the Academy Awards. The teacher, Stephen, patiently showed me how barre chords work, how I was strumming too hard and how my picking technique was slowing me down. I could also ask Stephen where to place my fingers (close to the frets it turns out!) and what picks to buy.
In just the first lesson, I saved myself months or years of my own time I would have spent through trial and error and research.
These days there is much more information available online, but still the online lessons can not give you the specific feedback that YOU need to make fast improvements, and nor can you ask the questions that you need answered. It is also really easy to go blindly down the wrong path with bad technique which in some cases can lead to painful injuries.
If you are serious about learning and improving on an instrument, a good private teacher will massively increase your results and at the same time let you have fun whilst doing it. And that is worth much more than the cost of a few lessons.
I'm confident that in a lesson with me you'll come out with some fresh ideas, a clear understanding of the mistakes you’re making, and areas to focus on so that you can take your playing to the next level.
If you want to unlock the fretboard, developing your improvising voice or just crack that song that you're stuck on, get in touch!
Whether you want some "go to" strumming patterns, or learn more advanced techniques like travis picking or fingerstyle arrangements of your favourite songs, I can help.
What to improve your technique? Get around the fretboard more smoothly? Let me know!
All lessons are one hour and prices are in USD
I do lessons via skype or zoom, and can send you a recording of the lesson to assist with your practice.
This is Courtney, who I've been teaching since 2020. He's practiced a lot, made great progress, and now plays confidently with a group.
This is Jason who I've been teaching bass since 2020. He's now comfortably getting around the fretboard.
